Spring Fundraising!

On Friday the 12th of May the wonderful Cleeve Singers and the brilliant Dodington Parish Band performed at a concert to raise money for Green Community Travel.
This was organised by one of our fantastic drivers, Valerie and took place at St Mary's Church.
We had some wonderful feedback from the passengers that attended, another of our drivers, Graham drove the minibus for the passengers.
The concert raised £222! This will be added to our fundraising total which is now £2222!

Taking the Plunge!

Some fantastic volunteers, committee members and staff Took the Plunge on Saturday at Portishead Marina! 12 of us plunged into the marina's chilly waters and were rescued by a Newfoundland Dog. Newfound Friends are a charitable organisation that organise events like this for other charities. The dogs are trained and owned by members of the group and their commitment and cheerful manner is amazing!

We need Voluntary Car Drivers!

Could you help people access their hospital appointments?

Do you have some spare time on your hands? Would you like to give something back to the community?

Would you be able to use your own car or our car to take people to hospital appointments? Volunteers are reimbursed for their mileage.

This service makes an enormous difference to people that need to attend hospital for appointments, treatment or to visit loved ones.

GCT will arrange a DBS Check and Training.

Following a concert at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall, over 70 passengers were transported there and home to see a concert.
" A well organised evening down to you and your folks. One of my colleagues said that he had never seen such a smooth 'disembarkation' from the concert. "
After providing a specialist trip for the Rotary Club.
"Trevor was just brilliant and we cannot praise him enough. The vehicle was just right for the job."

Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to all your team for your help yesterday and in the lead up to our Big Christmas Lunch for the elderly in Chipping Sodbury.
It was a lovely event which more people were able to attend this year thanks to the addition of transport for them. Many have asked after the transport service and I will put them in touch with you in the hope they may make use of your services.
We truly appreciate all your efforts, particularly phoning round to confirm times with our guests and being so flexible with several last minute changes.

Feedback from The Big Lunch at Chipping Sodbury

I am a young disabled lady who is also a mum to a six year old. I am not sure how I would manage to " live a normal life" without the ongoing transport support that Green Community Travel offer myself and many other disabled or elderly residents of South Gloucestershire. I don't have any family locally, and I have not been able to drive for 3 years. I rely on Green Community Travel for getting to hospital for treatment, or helping me do a family shop. My son and I often use it in the holidays, it helps me do more and go more places. I am often not well enough to manage buses as the extra help and support offered by the drivers and the door to door service is invaluable to elderly or disabled people.

Our band Concert for the elderly last Wednesday went very well indeed and many of the people using your mini buses were very complimentary about the service provided. Friendly and helpful drivers, punctual and efficient were typical remarks.

I have been working with GCT for the past 3 years now. My role as Passenger Assistant is to ensure the children travelling on our bus to school are safe and well behaved! I like my job because I can see the positive effect working with these young children has.
