What qualifications do volunteers need?

Group of people standingTime and patience are the main requirements along with a sense of humour.

To drive a minibus, drivers need to be between 24 – 70 with a clean driving licence and at least three years driving experience.  You must also not have been refused vehicle insurance in the past & have a “D1” allocation on your driving licence.

GCT will arrange for you to attend the MiDAS (Minibus Driver Assessment) training with South Gloucestershire Council. This covers the legal aspects of driving a minibus as well as training in the practical skills. Even if you have a PCV, PSV or HGV licence you will still need to take this assessment. MiDAS is a nationally recognised scheme with common training and requirements. The assessment is usually in two parts – Theory & Practical – each taking approximately half a day. In addition we can offer tail lift & wheelchair training for those who require it.
