Community Volunteering: Make a Real Difference

Here at Green Community Travel we know that every mile we cover makes a real difference for our passengers. If you’d like to join us to help local people, we’d love to welcome you to our fun and friendly community volunteering team.

It’s easy to volunteer with us: we work around you so that volunteering fits in with your life. If you need any training, don’t worry – we’ll provide it, and cover your expenses too. As a volunteer you can drive a Green Community Travel vehicle, or you can drive your own car – we’ll agree on this with you when you join our team.

Community volunteering with us is a really great way to meet new people, visit local and new places, be part of a great team and help others in the process.

What would I be expected to do?

There is flexibility over how much of your time you volunteer with us for. As a guideline, if you can offer to cover a minimum of one journey a month, that would be brilliant.

Some of our volunteers do a day a month, others are contacted on an ad-hoc basis. We work around your other commitments to make sure the arrangement works for you.

To drive our minibuses we’ll help you complete something called a MiDAS Assessment – find out more about what’s involved.

Do you cover my expenses?

Yes, we cover any training costs and if you are driving your own car for us we reimburse you at a rate of £0.50 per mile. As a volunteer you won’t need to pay for parking or any other expenses, and on longer trips we fund your lunch and/or refreshments.
